The Shizuru set is designed to showcase the 'pour over' style of serving fine chilled sake by the craftsmen of Kaneko Ko-hyo, a pottery with over 100 years of history in the Gifu Prefecture and to remind you of the traditional Japanese bamboo fountain that fills with water and tips to create a trickling sound.
The set is designed to aerate the sake as it overflows from the pourer into the ochoko (cup) below, improving the flavour and aroma of the sake while the saucer is designed to catch any overflow and be drunk from. It can also be used as a serving dish and the notch is a rest for chopsticks.
This new design of serving ware is highly sought after by sake connoisseurs and is ideal for premium Ginjo, Daiginjo and other fine sakes.
