LIKE WASABI?
LOVE IT
Welcome to The Wasabi Company, specialists in fresh wasabi and high-quality ingredients from Japan. We stock a wide selection of authentic Japanese groceries, alongside fresh ingredients grown on our farms in England.
Whether you're a top chef looking for new flavours, or simply trying to perfect your ramen noodles at home, explore Japanese cuisine using the best ingredients.
Did you know? Most of the 'wasabi' eaten outside of Japan is actually a mixture of horseradish, mustard and green food colouring. The real deal is much rarer.
We're the UK's only growers of fresh wasabi, growing our plants in mineral-rich water on our Dorset and Hampshire farms. The prized rhizomes take at least 18 months to reach harvest - so our stock is subject to seasonal availability.
We've finally got some plantlets ready, perfect as a house plant or a shady spot in the garden. Be sure to see our growing guide for more information for best results.
We pay very close attention to quality and provenance. As a result, both our produce and our imported goods are used in some of the best restaurants in the UK and Europe. We source the finest ingredients from artisanal Japanese suppliers, many of whom have been in business for centuries.
Cook authentic Japanese recipes with proper ingredients, and taste the flavours as they were originally intended.
Alongside wasabi, we grow a wide range of other Japanese ingredients for online purchase - or you can buy plants to cultivate them in your own home. You could grow wasabi, citrus trees (such as yuzu), shiso herb, sansho pepper, edamame beans and more - all in your back garden. Our plants are subject to seasonal availability.
Our Dorset and Hampshire farms have grown watercress since the 1850s. But it wasn't until a chef visited us in 2010 that we thought about switching things up. He remarked that the only other crop he had seen growing in similar conditions was wasabi in Japan. That was enough to plant the seed.
Shopping for a serious foodie, or someone passionate about Japanese food culture? From our wasabi growing kit to our ultimate sushi-making kit, these high-quality gifts are made with chefs in mind. These artisanal ingredients and imported equipment are sure to hit the mark with food lovers.
