The fuchiara carved design with horizontal, hard-carved lines features on the ‘ears’ and around the rim of the bowl, emphasising the shape and highlighting the gorgeous natural colours of the red clay underneath the white glaze.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe soft white Kohiki finish is achieved by layering white clay over iron-rich red Shigaraki clay and then firing it twice at low temperatures. Shigaraki clay is distinctive for its warm, reddish tones and slightly coarse texture, which contains natural feldspar and silica particles.
