This small batch, seasonally produced sake is beautifully elegant & fresh with rich body.

“Sakura” opens with delicate aromas of white blossom alongside ripe pear and apple, lifted by hints of grapefruit and orange. On the palate it is smooth and rounded, with gentle umami and bright, food-friendly acidity. Flavours of orchard fruit continue, joined by fresh strawberry notes and a subtle touch of salinity.

Moderately sweet yet well balanced, this medium-bodied sake finishes long and juicy, making it both refreshing and versatile at the table.

Thanks to its harmony of umami and fresh fruit flavours, Sakura pairs particularly well with richer dishes such as oily fish (mackerel or sea bream), tempura and other fried foods, pork, ceviche and soft cheeses.

Sakura forms part of the Hyakujyuro series, named after a celebrated Kabuki actor from nearby Kakamigahara. In 1912 he donated 1,200 cherry trees to line the banks of the city’s Sakai River. Today, locals still gather along the riverside parks each spring to admire the spectacular cherry blossom. The striking bottle label reflects the distinctive stage makeup traditionally worn by Kabuki performers.

Please note: unless stated otherwise, the dates printed on the bottles are production dates NOT best before dates.
