Furikake
Buy Furikake Seasoning | Japanese Rice Seasoning
A sprinkle of furikake seasoning can transform a bowl of plain rice into something special. This savoury-sweet dry seasoning is made from a mixture of elements: white sesame seeds, black sesame seeds, nori seaweed and bonito flakes tend to be the core furikake ingredients.
From basic nori komi furikake (an often-homemade furikake made with thin strips of nori sheets) to mixtures containing wasabi powder, dried shiso, poppy seeds, yuzu or ume plum, there are endless varieties of furikake. However, the basic elements of dried fish, dried seaweed and sesame seeds stay the same.
This delicious Japanese seasoning is mostly used on plain steamed rice to make furikake rice, or atop udon noodles. However, it can also be used to enhance popcorn and other snacks, or even to coat fried chicken or prawns. Try our authentic furikake flavours from Japan, including our Furikake with Sesame, Soy Sauce & Shiso or our Wadaman Organic Furikake Shoyu Sesame. Always keep furikake in an airtight container.
