What is a Konro grill?
A Konro grill is traditionally made from highly insulating materials, often based on diatomaceous earth. This construction allows the table grill to retain intense heat while using relatively small amounts of charcoal, keeping temperatures stable throughout cooking.
Because the grill body holds heat so efficiently, Konro grills excel at fast, controlled cooking rather than long, slow barbecuing. This makes them particularly well suited to skewers, seafood, vegetables, and thin cuts of meat that benefit from precise heat.
Konro grill sizes and pricing
Konro grills are available in a wide range of sizes, from compact tabletop models to much larger grills suited to longer cooking sessions or entertaining. Prices range from around £54 to £490, depending on size, material, and construction.
Smaller Konro grills, around 15–24 cm, are very compact and work best for one or two people, small skewers, or casual tabletop cooking. These sizes are often chosen for quick yakitori-style cooks where space is limited.
Mid-sized table grills, typically around 31–37 cm, offer more flexibility and are commonly used for home yakitori, skewers, vegetables, and small cuts of meat, making them a good option for two to five people.
Larger Konro grills, from 47 cm upwards, provide significantly more cooking space and are better suited to group cooking, dinner parties, or longer sessions, where multiple skewers or larger pieces of food are cooked at once.
Exact dimensions, materials, and current pricing for each model are listed on the individual product pages.
