Despite its small size, this grill still works beautifully with binchotan charcoal, a high-quality Japanese charcoal known for burning clean and hot with little smoke. This allows you to cook food with intense, even heat and no unwanted flavours. You can use natural binchotan such as Ikkyu or Maitiew as these come with a range of individual piece sizes or the compressed hexagonal briquettes which are easily broken down into smaller pieces to fit the grill.
