Made in the village of Kitagawa in Kochi Prefecture on Japan's island of Shikoku, this zesty yuzu syrup comes from the region that produces around half of Japan's yuzu crop. The steep mountain valleys, cool nights and long growing season provide ideal conditions for growing yuzu, and some of the orchard's trees are over 100 years old.

Yuzu is a distinctive Japanese citrus with characteristics of lemon, mandarin and grapefruit. It has a fragrant, floral aroma with bright citrus notes and a gentle bitterness that makes it a versatile ingredient in Japanese cooking and drinks.

This is a smooth, well-balanced syrup with the fresh flavour and distinctive aroma of yuzu, balanced by a gentle sweetness.

How to use

Dilute with still or sparkling water (roughly 1 part syrup to 5–6 parts water) over ice for a refreshing, citrusy soft drink or use it to build yuzu into cocktails, lemonades and highballs. It also works well stirred through fruit salads, drizzled over ice cream or used to add a Japanese citrus note to dressings and glazes.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
