An "ochoko" is a small dish traditionally used for serving soy and other dipping sauces.
Bizen ware is a type of Japanese pottery originally made in the Bizen province, which is now known as Okayama Prefecture. It is one of Japan's six ancient kilns and is known for its rustic appearance, durability, and lack of glaze, giving it an unusual matt finish.
Traditional Bizen ware is recognised by its earthy tones, in shades of brown, reddish-brown and occasionally with subtle green or grey hues. Black Bizen, specifically, features a darker, often blackened finish achieved through specific firing techniques.
This soy sauce dish is perfect for enjoying sushi and sashimi or for presenting your tsukemono (Japanese pickles), spices and other seasonings.
Dishwasher and microwave safe.
