Produced by the highly regarded Tatenokawa Brewery in Yamagata Prefecture, Japan, this brand-new, limited-edition liqueur is made using wild mountain grapes (yamabudo), grown near the foothills of Mount Gassan. These small, dark grapes are known for their intense flavour and natural tartness.
Fragrant, fruity and rich, this liqueur delivers a well-balanced blend of sweetness and acidity. The deep grape character makes it easy to enjoy without being overly heavy or sweet.
Versatile and easy to drink, it’s especially good chilled or over ice with a small cheese plate but can also be enjoyed as an aperitif, as a dessert wine or mixed with soda for a light and refreshing long drink.
Pair with dark chocolate as the tart-sweet grape notes contrasts beautifully with rich, slightly bitter chocolate. The richness of soft cheeses like brie or camembert pairs nicely with the liqueur's acidity and fruitiness. It is also fits well alongside charcuterie, especially cured meats that have a touch of sweetness or spice.
