Japanese roasted sesame green tea, often referred to as “Goma Hojicha,” is a distinctive and flavourful blend that marries the toasty, caramelised notes of Hojicha with the rich, nutty flavour of roasted sesame seeds.
Goma Hojicha is commonly enjoyed in Japan as a warm, comforting beverage, often paired with meals or as a relaxing drink in the evening.
What is Hojicha?
Hojicha is a type of Japanese green tea that is roasted at high temperatures, transforming its colour from green to reddish-brown and giving it a unique flavour profile that is less astringent and more toasty compared to other green teas.
Taste & Aroma
The combination of Hojicha green tea and roasted sesame seeds results in a harmonious blend of flavours. The tea has a sweet, nutty, and slightly smoky taste with a smooth finish.
It offers a warm, toasty aroma with hints of caramel, nuts and a subtle earthiness.
Health Benefits
Hojicha has a lower caffeine content compared to other green teas, making it suitable for those sensitive to caffeine or looking for a relaxing evening tea.
Both Hojicha and sesame seeds contain antioxidants that help protect the body from oxidative stress and inflammation.
Sesame seeds are rich in healthy fats, including omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which are beneficial for heart health.
Keep at room temperature.
