A simple and effective way to help you light binchotan charcoal or briquettes quickly and safely without the need for lighter fluid, which can affect the flavour of the food cooked on your grill.
Place a piece of scrunched-up newspaper or another natural firestarter in the bottom of the chimney, then fill the top part with your charcoal. Light the newspaper, the heat rises, lighting the coals quickly and evenly. This eliminates the need for chemicals and helps the charcoal to ignite at the same time, ensuring a consistent heat throughout. This is particularly important for grilling delicate foods like fish or vegetables, where you don’t want to run the risk of uneven cooking. Ensure all the charcoal is distributed evenly within the chimney. The charcoal should take around 15-20 mins to get to an even temperature.
