Fresh Ginger Plants and Myoga Ginger Bulbs
Buy fresh young ginger root and myoga bulbs
Young, fresh ginger is essential for making pickled ginger (simply marinated in a rice vinegar mixture), and you can even eat it raw when thinly sliced. Sushi is one of the most popular Japanese dishes that uses myoga ginger, alongside soy sauce and wasabi to create a hit of fresh, clean spice and aromatic flavour.
Myoga ginger is a perennial herb native to Japan, with the same mildness as young ginger but with a zesty tang. Both myoga ginger and fresh, young ginger work excellently with fish, chicken and Asian salads. Garnish sushi, canapés or a stir fry with either sliced or grated fresh ginger to take your dishes to another level. Fresh ginger is also amazing in dipping sauces and marinades, perfect on soba, tempura and tofu.
Our fresh ginger is harvested about six months after planting, making it a seasonal treat. Grown by our Dutch partners, this young ginger is supplied with part of the stem attached to increase shelf life, helping you enjoy your produce for longer.
